JASON HUNG

Jason Hung is a MSc Sociology candidate at London School of Economics and an affiliate student at King’s College London. He will be a visiting graduate student at University of Chicago in 2019 and worked as a visiting student researcher at University of California, Berkeley in 2018. He was also the founding Vice Executive Director at UK Joint University Public Speaking Competition in 2017. Additionally, he works as a content writer at Harvard Brevia Magazine and freelance op-ed writer at South China Morning Post. His publications can be found in multiple outlets, including Harvard Kennedy School Review, Cornell Policy Review and Columbia Journal of International Affairs. In 2014, Jason failed in the university entrance examination in Hong Kong, along with having an IELTS score as low as 6.5. He was told by school teachers and parents that he would be unlikely to succeed in future. Yet, he endeavoured to study hard and gained his university entry in the United Kingdom in 2015. He also began his public speaking and writing career in due course, development which he was unlikely to succeed based on his academic history. That being said, Jason was the 2nd runner up at Warwick Public Speaking Competition in 2015, novice champion at Cardiff (UK) National Debating Tournament in 2016, semi-finalist at ENACTUS (UK) National Presentation Competition in 2016, honourable mention at Oxford International Model United Nation in 2016, Case Study Winner at Harvard Project for Asian and International Relation in 2017 and The Best Young Innovators for Education in United Nations Conference Centre at Future Leaders Congress in 2018.
