Dena Chang is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter and influencer currently based in Taipei, Taiwan. Having harboured a love for music since youth, she took up the guitar at 13 and began songwriting after being inspired by singer Taylor Swift’s Country/Folk/Pop sound. Starting her journey by competing in various singing competitions, in 2013 Chang entered the Avex International Auditions in Japan, finishing second place and garnering much media attention over her angelic vocals and guitar skills. All this while, Chang continued to grow her base via YouTube where she would upload acoustic covers of her favourite songs, before slowly moving towards songwriting. In 2015, Dena’s potential as a songwriter was unearthed when she was awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee School Of Music after completing a degree in nursing where she gained a deeper appreciation for songwriting and greater access to the resources she needed to bring her music to wider audiences. Despite having lived in Taiwan for most of her life, Dena is fluently bilingual as a result of her upbringing by parents who saw the value in learning different languages. As a result, Dena writes both in English and Chinese; and buoyed by her sweet, soulful voice and passion for sharing her life with the world, hopes to reach international audiences with her music someday.
